Inauguration of New Horizon College of Engineering Marine Technology Society (MTS) Student Section

MTS is the leading International community of ocean engineers, technologists, policy makers, and educators. It is an interdisciplinary Society having promising future of exploitation of ocean minerals and wealth for future energy needs. World-over, the way the space has been explored by nations, beyond thousands and millions of kms, where as ocean has not been explored even 10-20 km depths! Yet entire, earth surface filled with 70% of Ocean Waters!

The Inauguration program started with lighting of lamp by eminent personalities Dr. R.Venkatesan, Chair MTS India Section, Entrepreneur Mr. Nanda Kumar, Secretary MTS and Commodore Shekhar followed by Dr. Gopala Krishnan, Dean Research and Development, NHCE and Dr. Sanjeev Sharma HoD, ECE.
Dr. Nisha KC R, Professor, Department of ECE has welcomed the gathering. The guest speakers were honored by presenting saplings as a token of appreciation.
Ms. Athira Ajay, Master of Ceremony (MC) gave a brief introduction of MTS to the gathering.

Dr. Venkatesan, Chair MTS has declared that the MTS New Horizon College of Engineering student chapter opened and it was accepted by Mr. Nanda Kumar, Secretary MTS and Commodore Shekhar.
The MTS NHCE Student Section Certificate was handed over to Dr. Gopala Krishnan, Dean
R& D, NHCE, Dr. Sanjeev Sharma, HoD ECE and Dr.Nisha K C R, MTS branch councilor.
Chairs’ address was given by Dr.Venkatesan, Chair MTS, Scientist G and Program Director Head Ocean Observation Systems, National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT) Ministry of Earth Sciences.
The proud moment was that, NHCE was announced as the 3rd college in India to be associated with Marine Technology Society after NIT-Trichy and SRM University. NHCE is FIRST Engineering College in Karnataka to have MTS Student Chapter.

The program concluded with Vote of Thanks by Mr. Dennis Vincent Paulraj,5th semester student of ECE.
Summary
There were 175 members present in the inauguration program inclusive of faculty members and students from various departments. The inauguration meeting was of great success with lot of involvement of student members with interactive session and enlightening and inspirational speech by the eminent speakers.
